Everything has its wonders, even darkness and silence, and I learn, whatever state I may be in, therein to be content.  -Helen Keller

Sorry for the hiatus from blogging.  The last week and a half has been crazy.  I went to Ft. Lauderdale for a trade show, packed up all of my things for Seattle, and got in a solid weekend of mountain biking.

Work is work, so I will spare you the details from that.

The mountain biking has been wonderful.  Saturday, KD and I rode the Estrella course after the MBAA race was over.  Expecting that area to be barren, I’ve never bothered driving the hour or so that it takes to get there.  What a mistake!  The ground was green and entire hillsides were covered in yellow wildflowers.  The sun was hot, and we took our respite in the shade of trees (yes trees!).  The pressures from work, from moving, from other inconsequential stresses that usually loom so large, they all floated away in the warm breeze.

Sunday morning, we rode Hawes–> Twisted Sister –> NRA pit.  Parts of the trail were so overgrown with wildflowers, weeds, and other vegetation it was hard to tell where I was.  Hard to believe that it was the same trail that I have biked week after week for the past year and a half.  Including bike time to and from the trailhead, it was a 4.5 hour ride.

Much needed time in the saddle, good company, beautiful scenery.  I am one lucky girl!
